Mickey was using the M88 into a 'Fat Man 2' vocal processor which then split to the PA and his monitor amp which at that time was a tweed champ with a replacement speaker which was apparently ripped out of an old TV set ( I think the champ was also mic'ed and the FOH guy would blend the two). This was about 3 and a half years ago at the Royal Albert hall so his rig may have changed since then."

My guess is that the "Fat Man 2" was just in the arsenal for overseas tour -- each times I've seen him in the States, Mickey was using an ART pre-amp. Last time I saw him, he said he'd retired that old tweed Champ as it was getting to worn on the road, and had switched to a stock Pro Junior (which he said some of Willie's sound guys had loaded with good quality tubes - stock layout - but had no other mods or upgrades). If you look closely on the DVD "Willie Nelson and Friends - Live & Kickin'," you can see the PJ set up just behind Mickey (and yes, my wife thinks I'm a total geek for noticing this kind of thing!). Guess what? He sounded killer! ;-)
BTW, in an earlier post, Trips wrote that Mickey "will either hand hold the mic or put it on a stand depending on how much he crunch he wants from the amp." I've been a big fan of Mickey (and Willie) for a long time now and I've never ever seen Mickey playing through a mic on a stand -- which in my mind, makes his vibrato all the more amazing. It often SOUNDS like he's doing had wahs when he's not!
Off topic: Can anyone tell me about how Don Brooks played in a live setting? Mic-on-stand or cupped in his hands, I mean.
